Child Abuse Hotline: 1-800-252-5400

Volunteers play an important part in our mission.

As a non-profit agency, the center operates with minimum staffing. In order for the staff to fully dedicate their time to clients needs, we rely on volunteers to help us perform necessary duties to keep the center running day-to-day and we especially need help during our special events.

Fundraising Events:

Honor Thy Children Awards Luncheon.  Held each fall, this event recognizes a business, an individual, and an organization that has been an outstanding proponent for children. The volunteer-based committee works on all aspects of the event from planning and implementation to selling table sponsorships and event tickets.

Big Game Blowout.  A donor appreciation football watching party is held on the BIG GAME Sunday in February of each year. As our way of saying thank you to our donors, the center takes over the entire Science Spectrum and invites donors to enjoy the big game with us. There are numerous screens to watch it on including the OmniMax Screen. The staff and board treat our guests to a giant indoor tailgate party of free buffet, soft drinks and tea, an all night nacho bar, popcorn, snacks and desserts. As a BGBO volunteer, you can help with anything from planning and implementation to sponsorships to working on our giant silent auction.

Designer Purse Bingo. Our newest fun event. Help plan, help acquire silent auction items, assist the day of the event. It's a fun time for all the ladies.

Suddenlink Stand Up for Kids.  This is our signature community awareness, in partnership with the Lubbock Police Department, event held each year during April, which is Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month. Our title sponsor, Suddenlink, has taken this fun, family event under their wing to help us expand child abuse prevention awareness across the South Plains. It is a one-day event held on a Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees are treated to free hot dogs, drinks, popcorn and cotton candy. There is live entertainment, speakers, bounce houses, booths from other community agencies. Volunteers can help with a wide variety of areas from selling T-shirts prior to the event to helping promote the event throughout the communities.

Other volunteer opportunities:

Serve on our Board of Directors.  A diversified and involved board is important to maintaining a strong Children's Advocacy Cente. If you are looking for a way to make a difference and work with our amazing child protection team, this might be just the thing for you.

Sponsor or coordinate a drive - new toys, blankets, or snacks supplies for the children. This is a good project for youth groups and church groups.
